One summer after my first year of university, I came across the story of the man who started Covenant House (a non-profit for street-involved youth). Reading how one person’s passion to help could start such a huge and life-saving program was enough for me to be completely inspired. It was then that I knew I would go into social work.
For 13 years, I have worked in various helping roles as a counsellor, policy analyst, program co-ordinator and advocate for mental health and addictions. I am passionate about helping people through dark days. I know it can be done- I’ve seen it too many times to count.

I am a self-proclaimed “education junkie”, so I have a LOT of letters behind my name (but don’t let it scare you!). I have worked in various roles in mental health and addictions counselling. I have been privileged to have worked with different age groups as well, but my “sweet spot” is working with adults. I love the experiences, richness and wisdom that each adult brings to my office.
I began my career in crisis counselling within the field of mental health and believe that this provided me with skills to think on my feet quickly and assess for what is said and what is not said. I have training and experience in running Dialectical Behaviour Therapy groups, Solutions-Focused Brief Narrative Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, Somatic Experiencing and Mindful Self-Compassion.
I hold a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Western University, a Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Social Work from Memorial University. I am also a 200-hr registered yoga teacher with special certification in Trauma-Informed Yoga
Why I love being a counsellor:
Humans never, EVER cease to amaze me. In my role as a therapist, despite hearing lots of sad stories, I also get to see how resilient people are and how the human heart can be healed. There is nothing more satisfying than watching people change their whole lives and relationships. Finding peace, learning to love themselves, avoiding divorce- who can say they do THAT every day?
I am probably not your “typical” therapist. I like to laugh, you can swear in my office and I’m real and will challenge you (but always with kindness). I meditate every day, listen to a combination of hip hop, ballads and currently, the soundtrack to “My Little Pony- The Movie”.
